About OCYC
Orange County Youth Commission was launched in 1997 by Rosemarie Avila and a group of concerned community members who recognized the needs of children in high-poverty areas of Orange County and wanted to make a difference in their lives. A volunteer Board of Directors was formed and mission and vision statements were formulated. The organization was incorporated as a public benefit 501c3 non-profit organization in 2001.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The Orange County Youth Commission will bring hope and purpose to the children and youth in the inner city by developing a partnership among the business/private sector and the faith community to provide wholesome activities that educate, train, inspire and transform lives.

Youth in the inner-cities are living in poverty, amidst high crime and gang activity, exposure to the dangers of drugs, experiencing low academic performance and other serious challenges to their well-being. To address these disparities and bring support, guidance and resources to the children of the inner-city, the Orange County Youth Commission was formed. The Orange County Youth Commission establishes after school programs, on public school campuses, that provide homework assistance, structured sports and biblically-based character lessons and character building activities such as community service projects and student planned field trips.
